China-Solomon Islands deal ‘became known’ to Australia through social media

Foreign Minister Marise Payne says the government first found out the details of the security agreement between China and the Solomon Islands “through its exposure on social media” in March. “That’s the first time it was made public, but of course, there have been, as I said, ongoing conversations about security in the pacific and the importance of the pacific family if you like, being the first responders,” Ms Payne told Sky News Australia.
